Two white cross-wound filter cartridges with plain open ends and perforated center cores

String-Wound Filter Cartridges.

Yarn wound around a perforated core for depth filtration of process liquids. Explore filter media, core materials and cartridge configurations.

Filter Media Options

Start with the yarn, then select the support core, filtration grade and cartridge dimensions around your process.

PP String-Wound Filter Cartridges

Polypropylene yarn wound around a support core for particulate filtration of water and compatible process liquids. Match the grade, core and dimensions to your installation.

String-Wound Filtration Principle

Explore the wound yarn structure, follow liquid through the filter wall and into the support core.

Crossing yarn courses build the filtration structure.

Liquid path Retained particles
  1. Yarn is wound in crossing courses around a perforated core. The winding pattern forms the depth of the filter wall.

  2. Liquid travels from the outside through the yarn pack. Particles are retained within its fibrous structure according to the selected grade.

  3. Filtered liquid passes through the support tube openings, collects in the center bore and continues toward the housing outlet.

Yarn & Core Options

The filter yarn and support core have different roles. Select them together with the liquid, working conditions and housing.

Filter yarn
Crossing yarn courses create the fibrous filter wall. Material and winding construction contribute to the selected filtration grade.
Support core
A perforated polypropylene or metal tube supports the wound pack and provides a path into the central collection channel.
Cartridge dimensions
Nominal length, outside diameter and bore diameter determine the installation envelope. Compare actual dimensions when replacing an existing element.
End arrangement
Plain double-open ends and application-specific end fittings need the correct housing seating and sealing arrangement.
